Craig Shaknis
Co-Chair, Friends of the Naples Recreation Complex

Originally from Long Island, NY, Craig graduated from the University of Maine (Orono) in 1979 with a B.S. in Forest Management. After a year as a forester, he pivoted into technology and spent 40 years marketing IBM solutions in Central Pennsylvania. Craig retired in 2019 as Vice President of Essex Technology Group and became a full-time Naples resident with his wife, Laura. He believes Naples needs a year-round space for people of all ages to connect, stay active, and build community.
Lindsay Clement
Co-Chair • Treasurer

Lindsay grew up in Bridgton, learning the importance of exercise and community from her parents. She studied Exercise Science at Springfield College before transferring to Florida Southern College, where she earned a Business degree. After leaving the corporate world to live in Japan, Maui, and California, Lindsay returned to Maine to be closer to family, married her husband Mark, and joined Clement Bros. Lawn & Landscape. A founding member of CrossWalk Community Outreach in 2009, she currently serves as Treasurer. Lindsay believes the Recreation Center will provide a vital year-round space for connection and activity during Maine’s long winters.
Regal Naseef, M.S.
Fundraising / Grant Writing

Owner of Regal Resource Development (www.regalrd.com), a professional fundraising consulting company. She specializes in grant writing in support of community-benefit organizations in Maine and across the U.S., and has raised approximately $35 million—breaking fundraising records for most of her clients. Regal has won several Congressionally Directed Spending (CDS) and CDBG grants, bringing in millions to local charities. She has been featured on Voice America radio as a fundraising expert coaching CEOs, and won an Anthem Award for excellence in global fundraising. Regal was the first Certified Professional Grant (CPG) professional in Maine in 2013, helping elevate the profession statewide. Personally, she has served on several Maine nonprofit boards and has helped rebuild international areas affected by natural disasters, war, and poverty. Laura Shaknis
Assistant to Co-Chairs • Editor • Volunteer

Laura Shaknis brings a lifetime of education, leadership, and wellness expertise. She earned a B.S. in Education from the University of Maine (Orono) and began her career teaching junior high math and science before moving into the corporate world with IBM. For more than 40 years, Laura followed her passion in health and fitness as a group instructor, licensed personal trainer, senior fitness manager, and LifeBreath Facilitator. She believes Naples needs a year-round gym where people of all ages can connect, stay active, and thrive together.
James M. Grattelo
Chair, Building Committee

Jim brings decades of leadership across business and public service. He served two terms as Mayor of Biddeford and spent 20 years as a Director at Hannaford Bros - along with six years as Chair of the Naples Select Board. Jim has also owned and operated multiple businesses and recently built a recreation center identical to the one approved for Naples. He provides hands-on construction oversight to ensure the project is built according to plans and within budget.
Chip Keinath
Committee Member

With degrees in Psychology and Addiction Prevention, Chip’s career focused on designing and implementing programs addressing addiction education, prevention, intervention, and treatment for youth and adults. A sixth-generation Naples resident, Chip believes community connection and physical activity are essential to mental wellness—driving his commitment to the recreation center.
Joseph Deschenes
Marketing

Joseph is from Naples, Maine and brings modern storytelling, content creation, and digital marketing to help the community understand the impact of the recreation center. His motivation comes from seeing how sports and shared spaces connect communities—especially during Maine winters—and creating opportunity for the next generation of youth athletes.
